This us one of those Thomsonite specimens that looks “Old” whatever that means and I am showing my Age Card here lol but some of the earlier found stones (this stones had not begun to be collected till late 1800s and were near depleted by mud 1900s) had this deep rich look almost like a exotic wood perhaps petrified wood which brings me this the next thought. And that is that this stone is very very hard and almost Agatized. In any case the back still has the old rough “Rockhound” markings from old Corundum wheels (pre-diamond) and texture from the “bunny fur mounting tape” I have recut,shaped and polished the front to a glassy finish. There is a very light occlusion running across top of stone. Bottom line. It is gorgeous!
